Bella ~ beautiful, loving and absolutely lovable.
This dear wee Cavoodle puppy lives right up to the meaning of her name but could also be described as adorable, delightful, playful and fun!
Lulu was promised a puppy to celebrate her 13th birthday but when the time came the breeder had none available so she had to wait a little while longer. Judging by the tender, caring delight she shows towards Bella, this delightful ball of caramel fluff was well worth waiting for.
However, it is not only Lulu who has fallen head over heels for this new family addition. Her parents Rebecca and James seem to be just as smitten by her.
When photographing this puppy there were many squeals of delight at her energetic antics and affectionate kisses. Her quieter moments brought forward many oohs and aahs and I could feel the intense love that had found it’s way deep into the hearts of all three members of this family.
Bella is certainly set for a wonderful life in this home.
Archie was a handsome Cavoodle with seductively long eyelashes. His quiet, gentle nature meant he didn’t need to force himself upon you but would happily accept a tummy rub, a back scratch or a fondle of his long, soft ears. He was content to just hang out with you and keep you company.
He was my friend Leanne’s dog but one for whom I felt a particular affection. I treasure this promotional portrait Leanne took of me with Archie a couple of years ago.
Sadly, Archie recently departed this world.
A few years ago, as a personal project, I photographed him in the studio with Leanne’s daughter Emelia.
I positioned him ready to take the first photograph and walked back to my camera. When I turned around again I noticed him pulling a very comical expression as he screwed up his nose and raised it in the air. Puzzled, I assumed he must have breathed in something that was irritating him. Then I noticed he was slowly, but determinedly moving towards me.
With much amusement, I realised that, even though they were firmly sealed in a zip lock bag, he could smell the dog treats I had in my camera bag. He just couldn’t resist the lure of the liver treats so of course I had to indulge him with the tasty tidbits and then bribe him with them during his pet photography session.
Archie was a placid dog unless he sensed possums had intruded into his backyard. Then his defensive streak would come to the fore as he alerted all around that there was foe to be warded off. He sounded fierce so I doubt that they ever came down out of the trees until he was fast asleep inside.
RIP dear Archie. You are missed.

Imagine at the end of a long arduous working day having a little bundle of soft, fluffy apricot coloured curls race to the door to welcome you home. For Karen, this greeting comes from an excitable, playful Cavoodle puppy called Harvey.
Harvey sleeps in the laundry but each morning bounds into Karen’s bedroom for a morning tickle, tummy rub and cuddles. When they are up more games are played. Harvey’s favourite is being chased and he will steal a slipper or a sock to entice Karen into his game.
Harvey also has a penchant for soft toys but, as I witnessed while photographing him, rearranges their features rather quickly. He looks so innocent here but a few minutes later had eaten the eyes off this brand new monkey.
His youthful enthusiasm is irresistible. Karen’s once quiet home life is now busy and full of laughter and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Life’s good in this happy home.
As his name would suggest, Hollywood is a fortunate pooch.
He lives a privileged lifestyle with his devoted mum Jennie in a glamorous apartment that enjoys sweeping views over the Melbourne city skyline.
Everyone who meets this attractive honey-coloured Cavoodle with his white trimmings is immediately drawn to him. This suits Hollywood well as he laps up all the affection and attention bestowed upon him.
Adored by Jennie’s friends, family and work colleagues he is also popular at his local dog park. There he is always greeted enthusiastically by his fellow hounds and their families. Still a puppy, he exerts boundless energy running around at the speed of a lightning bolt during his playtime. However, there always comes a point when he sits in front of Jennie exhausted from all his activity and looks up at her with pleading eyes to take him home for a little catch-up snooze.
However, this adorable little personality is no lay-a-bout and goes to work everyday. There he has an important role; meeting and greeting guests at Birches Serviced Apartments in East Melbourne. This accommodation is pet friendly so it is fitting that Hollywood is the company director and can show the visiting dogs how to behave appropriately while staying over.
This is a great spot to stay if you want a weekend in the city with your own beloved cat or dog. Be sure to say that Lesley from Pet Shots Photography recommended Birches to you and that you would love to meet Hollywood.
Zac and Sky take a moment out to relax in the shade with pet parents Leia and Anthony
Active games make life fun for Cavoodle Zac and younger Spoodle Sky. For them nothing beats a visit to the park and the opportunity to chase the ball around or fetch their favourite toys as they are repeatedly thrown into the open grasslands.
These two pooches are both very obedient and a credit to Leia and Anthony who have trained them to do a number of tricks such as shaking hands, spinning on the spot and jumping high. Both attend agility classes where they have learnt a range of skills that make their parents very proud.
Very fond of cuddles and being close, Zac is the quieter of the two. Sky has an enthusiastic, friendly approach to life and causes much laughter with her antics. Undoubtedly both of these dogs bring oodles of love and joy into their home. You just can’t beat that!
