Settling in for the photography session

Then ...... Arty catches sight of a guinea pig in the undergrowth

A most unexpected and funny thing happened when I was photographing Miniature Dachshund Arty and Gypsy, a Retriever Kelpie cross with sisters Alessandra and Philippa.

Everyone sat down and I had just snapped the first two test shots when I heard a rustle in the bushes behind. I couldn’t believe my eyes when a bold guinea pig strolled through the bushes. How brave can you be when there are two dogs in such dangerous proximity!

Once Arty caught sight of the unperturbed little creature he wanted to make a dash for it. Check out the immense strain in his neck as he struggles to break free and chase after it. It took a while longer for Gypsy to cotton on to what we were cracking up about but once she did that was the end of using the location.

Not at all what you expect to see in an inner city park!

I suspect the guinea pig was being used as a 'guinea pig', in a pooch/prey survey.
