Otto Von Schnauzer - Pet Shots Photography

Lesley O'Donnell - Tuesday, August 19, 2014

You know a dog has special importance in someone’s life when he is given a name such as Otto Von Schnauzer. My first thoughts are that his bond with his humans is likely to be far from ordinary.

Occupying a place deep within his mum’s heart, this Miniature Schnauzer is another lucky dog who gets to spend his days at work. Leanne is a beautician and Otto’s job description is to lift the day of her clients; something he does really well. Although not permitted to spend his time in the salon, he can reside in the backyard or upstairs in his own, rather large lounge room. Here he readily accepts cuddles, compliments and affection from the many women who venture upstairs to visit him.

With his distinctive clip that highlights his magnificent eyebrows and beard, Otto is one handsome dog. However, it is Otto’s shiny nose and bottom lip, along with his inclination to laugh, that melt Leanne’s heart.

Weekdays for this pair begin in the car sharing breakfast toast as they observe the passing suburbs during their commute to work. A simple ritual that Leanne treasures.

During the daytime Otto and Leanne enjoy their breaks exploring the streets and laneways of the surrounding neighbourhood. Sometimes sporting different coats or bandanas, this friendly, happy dog always attracts the attention of local shopkeepers and shoppers alike. Everyone loves him.

At the end of the day it is off home to greet and play with his eagerly waiting dad, Richie.

Miniature Schnauzer Discovers Melbourne

Lesley O'Donnell - Friday, October 11, 2013

Miniature Schnauzer Knitted Trees

Steph is an artist who adores bright colours, especially purple, red and blue. So with this in mind we headed into the city searching for bright coloured backgrounds against which to photograph Steph with her husband Gavin and their beloved Miniature Schnauzer Dexter.

It is interesting what you find when you decide to explore a neighbourhood, especially one as creative as our own Melbourne town. We came upon unexpected art such as these trees wrapped in brightly coloured knitted and crocheted panels which offered us unique photographic opportunities. Just perfect for dog photography as the trunks were covered right down to the ground.

Miniature Schnauzer Shoes

I had to laugh when Dexter discovered this shoe shop as he is known to have something of a shoe fetish. His interest in the window display gave the game away.

Miniature Schnauzer Tiles

The historic buildings of Melbourne sport some wonderful detailing including these splendid mosaic tiles that so beautifully complemented Dexter’s black and silver coat.

This city is renown for it’s wonderful city laneways decorated with imaginative and colourful street art. So they too provided a fitting location for some family and pet photography.

Miniature Schnauzer Hosier Lane

Dexter is a social being and didn’t mind at all when strangers stopped to give him a pat and a compliment. I think he quite enjoyed his walk through unfamiliar streets.

I certainly enjoyed my outing with him.

Pet Photography Melbourne - Mr Darcy

Lesley O'Donnell - Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Jackie did her research before bringing Mr Darcy into the family’s inner city home. She wanted a small dog that didn’t shed and wouldn’t dig or bark excessively. Beyond everything else, she wanted a dog who would be a devoted companion to her.

Even the name of this Miniature Schnauzer suggests she wanted a dog who would pay attention to the lady of the house. She chose the adorable, affectionate and totally irresistible Mr Darcy.

Although he is loyal to her when she is alone with him, the moment her husband John walks through the door, Mr Darcy changes his allegiance and takes to John’s lap. Not quite what Jackie had been longing for. However I think that John, although not necessarily wanting a dog, is thrilled with the addition to their household and his life.

Despite the part time attention Mr Darcy pays her, Jackie still adores him. Who wouldn’t!

Wonderful photos!
They were Initiated by your great idea to create a book to raise funds for animal aid. It was good timing as John was recovering from a cardiac arrest and the photos were such a valuable reminder of how precious family is. Darcy performed for the camera and you can see how much delight/ simple fun he has brought into our lives.
The book and photos have pride of place in our home.
Thank you Lesley!
