My Puppy Valentine

Lesley O'Donnell - Saturday, February 13, 2016

I can't quite picture Archie as his fully grown self. When he came to the studio for his pet photography session he had only lived with his family for a week. A little ball of dark chocolate fluff, he was almost brand new. I found it thrilling to dive my fingers into his velvety coat of curls and delight in his pure puppy-ness.

As you can imagine Archie has instantly stolen the hearts of Lynda, John and their two adult daughters. It therefore seemed only appropriate to incorporate a valentine theme into his photographs.

Puppies are often full of boisterous energy but this Miniature Labradoodle was very placid and incredibly co-operative as a canine model. Perhaps a star in the making?

Sharing a short time with Archie left me smiling for the rest of the day.

Pet Shots Photography Discovers Puppy Love

Lesley O'Donnell - Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Bella ~ beautiful, loving and absolutely lovable.

This dear wee Cavoodle puppy lives right up to the meaning of her name but could also be described as adorable, delightful, playful and fun!

Lulu was promised a puppy to celebrate her 13th birthday but when the time came the breeder had none available so she had to wait a little while longer. Judging by the tender, caring delight she shows towards Bella, this delightful ball of caramel fluff was well worth waiting for.

However, it is not only Lulu who has fallen head over heels for this new family addition. Her parents Rebecca and James seem to be just as smitten by her.

When photographing this puppy there were many squeals of delight at her energetic antics and affectionate kisses. Her quieter moments brought forward many oohs and aahs and I could feel the intense love that had found it’s way deep into the hearts of all three members of this family.

Bella is certainly set for a wonderful life in this home.

Pet Shots Photographer Finds Puppy Love

Mother Meeko and her darling wee daughter Patchy

As I sat soaking up the sun on a New Zealand beach recently, the frenzied activity of three tiny little dots chasing each other around on the black sand caught my attention. As I watched, it became clear that three VERY SMALL dogs were enjoying a fun excursion at the beach.

Watching their free play on this large expanse of wet sand, punctuated with the occasional frolic in the gently lapping waves, was so amusing.

I just had to meet them.

I devised a plan to walk up the beach and pass comment to the people accompanying them about how much I was enjoying their playful antics. When I got up close I realised how absolutely CUTE they really were. And tiny!

Patchy, with her oversized ears, was the puppy who really drew me in and I instantly fell in love with her. Seriously, if I lived in New Zealand, her new home would have been with me.

Shelly and her three children adopted Meeko, a Papillion Pomeranian cross, from a friend, not realising at the time she was expecting puppies. So instead of one dog they got many. The dad of these puppies is a Pomeranian Maltese cross so they all acquired very individual and endearing looks.

Charlie seeking the security of his human friend

Friends Tali and Chris adopted Charlie, this little wet black and white puppy. Patchy adored teasing her bigger brother and took every opportunity to chase him around. However, Charlie was a more timid soul and preferred to stay close to his human companions.

This family of tiny pooches injected such joy into my day and the memory of them makes me smile all over again.

Melbourne Pet Photography - Puppy Love

Lesley O'Donnell - Friday, July 19, 2013

I first set eyes on Alfie at a local cafe where he was attracting the attention of everyone who walked by. It was no different for me and I was immediately drawn to meet him. It was, without a doubt, a case of love at first sight. He is just sooooo CUTE!

Sisters Elizabeth and Rose told me their Pug puppy was really hard to photograph because he was so active so I was expecting a challenge. But he gave me his best and I actually think he understood his role as a model puppy. I had so much fun during my time with him and his amusing antics caused me much laughter.

This dear little soul left me feeling elated for the rest of the day. What a gift!
